About
Artist Statement
My work explores color, shape, and space, often hovering between abstraction and a suggestion of something familiar. Color is central to my paintings, creating movement, atmosphere, and unexpected energy.
I am drawn to compositions that suggest a place, structure, or object without fully revealing themselves. I want the work to remain open-ended—a little mysterious—inviting the viewer to wonder where they are and to bring their own experiences to what they see.
Artist Bio
Sherri Starr is an award-winning Cape Cod artist, a Juried Artist Member of the Copley Society of Art, and a Master Artist Member of the Cape Cod Art Center.
Originally from Missouri, Starr has lived in California, Florida, Anguilla, and now Cape Cod. The varied landscapes, architecture, light, and color of these places continue to influence her work.
Over time, her painting has evolved from realism toward contemporary abstraction. Her current work draws on architecture, landscape, and familiar forms, using layered color and unexpected relationships to create a sense of discovery.
